How To Use Bluetooth Technology

Bluetooth technology enables the sharing of data between two wireless devices. Bluetooth employs recognized standards in the fields of protocol and radio technology. This technique encourages Bluetooth use over the use of similar technologies. The most likely and convenient means of exchanging data in most wireless media is through Bluetooth.

Standard Bluetooth-enabled devices allow for the transfer of data and communication between hardware to a distance of ten meters. However, there are enhancements that can be made to allow data transfer and communication to a distance of 100 meters. Wireless communications at these short distances between media can allow even for the establishment of a home office using Bluetooth technology.

Its ease of use is also an advantage over other wireless technologies. Once Bluetooth devices are in range to read each other, they immediately communicate to establish what media and software technologies are compatible. No network drives have to be mapped or software engineering needs to be done.

The interoperability of the technology means that wireless Bluetooth is helping various technologies to converge just as software and hardware corporations are introducing similar convergence between their products. So a gallery of photos may be uploaded to a cellular phone or PDA from a computer today because the software on both devices is compatible. However, this is made even easier with Bluetooth as the transfer of data doesn't necessitate wires to be plugged into ports.

The increase in Bluetooth points on various products also means that data leads, USB leads, CDs and data pens are becoming less and less integral to the manual transfer of data. Better yet, your cellular phone software can be installed on your computer via Bluetooth.

Conversely, Bluetooth can be used to surf the Net or check e-mails on your PDA or your cell. In the business field, this kind of technology can allow the traveller to check his itinerary or appointments without having the burden of a heavy laptop.

Bluetooth is playing its part in revolutionizing the planet's communications capabilities. As technologies merge, we can watch movies on our phones and we can listen to MP3s in our cars. Bluetooth technology is at the forefront of this merging of various media, providing a single, standard, compatible wireless means for all of these different pieces of hardware to interact. Its dominance in the world of short range wireless should not be overlooked.

Just look at the advances made to the automobile through the use of Bluetooth technology as an example: Wireless headsets for cellular phones prevent car accidents because the hands of the driver are free to control the vehicle. You won't need a dedicated GPS device for satellite navigation installed in your car if you use Bluetooth technology. Your PDA can do it for you, with a Bluetooth GPS device of its own. Similar technology converts your laptop or cellphone into a global positioning system.

The uses for Bluetooth are only as limited as the technology it assists.
